FAA Selects Flatirons for $31 Million Engineering Support Contract

April 1, 2007

BOULDER, Colo. — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded its System Operations Engineering Support contract to Flatirons Solutions. The five-year, $31 million contract is a comprehensive scope of work that includes systems and software engineering, analytics and modeling, research, and technical management support for the System Operations organization of the FAA.

“This FAA contract is a great win for Flatirons Solutions,” said Mary Pritchard, President of Flatirons Solutions. “We look forward to continuing our support to SysOps as they usher in the next generation of traffic flow management systems and technologies to address demand-capacity imbalances. These are critical times. With air travel at record levels and projections of two-to-three fold increases over the next decade, the FAA will face increasing challenges to manage the system efficiently. Flatirons is committed to supporting the FAA to meet these challenges, making a positive impact in the aviation field by supporting the Systems Operations organization and its long-term initiatives.”

The System Operations organization includes the Traffic Flow Management (TFM), Collaborative Decision Making, and Systems Engineering programs that enable the FAA to plan and manage the flow of air traffic. Flatirons Solutions will provide systems and software engineering services that support Traffic Flow Management Modernization, Collaborative Air Traffic Management Technologies, Quantitative Performance Measurement, Weather and Aeronautical Data Systems, and other national air traffic management programs.
