This project focused on reducing the cost of adaptation by consolidating disparate sources of aeronautical data and providing single-point access and tools to the broad user community.

FAA NAS Adaptation Services Environment (NASE) Information & Web Server Architecture

The Problem

• NAS systems are adapted based on disparate aeronautical data that changes every 56 days
• Many sources and formats of aeronautical data requires each NAS system to develop methods and tools to locate aeronautical data, assess changes, and identify impacts

The Solution

• Implement an enterprise content repository – single source of information and tools to mine the information
• Use XML for data interchange with Oracle DB
• Analyze services/transactions/applications to be supported
• Research and recommend best-of-breed COTS web and application server products
• Develop plan for personalized portal environment

The Benefit

Personalized portal environment and XML-based data interchange are centerpieces of the NASE.
