Government Content Management
The United States government is the largest producer of content in the world, as well as one of the most extensive publishers. Numerous drives for efficiencies have produced initiatives spanning across all branches of government to include the Paperwork Reduction Act, eGov, HIPAA, Department of Defense mandates for electronic publishing and record keeping, and shared search/retrieve demands within the Intelligence Community. The government’s need for content management technologies is urgent. In many forums XML – one Content Management technology - has been established as the recommended if not required format. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has established XML as the document archival format and the Intelligence Community has also established XML for content interoperability. XML, or eXtensible Markup Language, allows automated processing and handling of content and information exchange of otherwise disparate data content. It also enables the rendering of one content source to several outputs formats (e.g. print, wireless, html), providing for re-use and re-purposing, and allowing data sources to adhere to their own specific format or legacy tool.
Content management and XML are Flatirons’ core competencies.
