The Flatirons Approach to Content Management: SourceOnce™

Our SourceOnce Methodology, designed specifically for content management implementations, incorporates templates, best practices and intellectual capital. Years of industry experience were applied to engineer a comprehensive approach to addressing business objectives before the technology solution. SourceOnce Chart

The Main Components to SourceOnce are:

Content Blueprint

Through structured workshops, we engage executives and other sponsors to crystallize specific business objectives – including critical success factors and business constraints. Accomplished in 3-4 weeks, these objectives truly serve as the framework against which all technology and design decisions will be assessed.

Content Architecture/Solution Design

During the Content Architecture, we develop the overall single-sourcing approach, chunking and assembly strategy, DTD/schema design, cabinet/folder structure, classification taxonomy and object/metadata model, content lifecycle models, content security model, and content migration strategy. The Solution Design portion sets the stage for iterative solution implementation and deployment. It includes development of high-level “user stories” that describe the functionality and operation of the solution from the users' point of view, along with a detailed solution architecture, identification of key user interfaces and integration points, and an initial specification of the physical architecture and hardware requirements.

Solution Implementation and Deployment

During this phase, each solution increment is configured, customized, integrated and tested. Users are trained and the increment is deployed.

Results of each increment are reviewed against established business objectives; upon project completion, the total content management solution is also reviewed.
