What do technical communications and renewable energy have in common? According to Vattenfall, one of Europe’s largest generators of electricity, it boils down to information availability and quality that inform the operation and maintenance of wind turbine generators.
Poor technical information quality and accessibility can slow down the operation of wind turbine generators. Without the right information available when needed, maintenance tasks are slowed down, it takes longer to purchase the right spare parts, and operational risks of not using updated information come into play.
This is why Vattenfall has launched a project aimed at the introduction of S1000D, an international information exchange standard that improves technical information quality and accessibility.
Svante Ericsson, senior S1000D consultant at Flatirons, presents an overview of S1000D and the work led by Vattenfall to adapt S1000D for the requirements of the energy sector at the TCWorld Conference 2014. His presentation, “Maximizing Power by a Powerful Information Process,” takes place Tuesday, November 11, from 08:45 – 09:30.
Since 2000, Svante has been active in the development and maintenance of S1000D. He is the author of a number of the specification’s chapters. Over the years Svante has chaired several of the groups and teams working to make S1000D the success it is today. Svante currently works for Flatirons, contributing his knowledge and expertise in the S1000D standard to the development of technology solutions that help organizations put the standard to use in practice.
Flatirons (booth 2A12) also will be exhibiting its S1000D solution for technical information that is used across industries to deliver accurate, high-quality information at the TCWorld Conference .
The TCWorld Conference together with the Tekom annual conference and Tekom fair are one of the largest global events and marketplaces for technical communications. TCWorld takes place November 11-13, 2014, at the International Congress Center in Stuttgart.
