In this blog, we’ll break down the latest enhancements across three key areas: enhanced search functionality, smoother document navigation, and upgrades to our Builder tool. Together, these updates reduce workflow friction, save time on routine tasks, and create a more intuitive, efficient user experience.
What’s New in Flatirons Pinpoint 8.7?
Full Text Search Enhancements
- Your most-needed content now ranks higher in search results by applying custom-weighted preferences to prioritized categories (e.g., document title, ATA/SNS code, part number field, landing page, supplement, content, and metadata)
- A Full Text Search also now covers the “Attachments” tab within a work section, allowing you to search by attachment title and metadata
- In the Full Text search view, columns have been reorganized for an easier-to-read layout of the information you need
Document Display and Navigation Improvement
- A document’s title now stays visible while scrolling, so you always know what you’re viewing
- The Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) for S1000D opens with a graphic view by default, minimizing extra clicks
- The 3D Engine Illustrated Parts Catalog (EIPC) now includes clickable links to related Engine Service Manual (ESM) references to cut down on time and keep tasks moving
- Within Pill and Tab data:
- An “Expand All” option has been added to Pills and Tabs that lets users view all preliminary requirements without having to click each Pill or Tab individually
- Embedded references are now accessible directly from Pills and Tabs with inline viewing, saving users time while they’re working on tasks
- Selected parts of 3D illustrations on a landing page are now highlighted when hovered over with a mouse for better visibility
- S1000D data modules containing PDFs identified by an Information Control Number (ICN) are now searchable in Pinpoint for faster access
- Product Config Tables (PCTs) of different publications can now be merged
- The Annotation tab can be hidden in Pinpoint to improve usability and prioritize the information you use most
Builder & Data Management Enhancements
Pinpoint‘s latest release rolls out 15 upgrades designed to make technical content management faster, easier, and more precise:
- Added In-line editing capability for the CFM56-7B engine to support MRO operations
- Made performance improvements for SOLR Indexing
- Improved the process for naming builders by letting you customize a builder’s name to better match its intended purpose
- Upgraded the Cortona 3D Solo Application Programming Interface (API)
- Addressed vulnerability issues as part of our continuous cybersecurity monitoring and upgrade program
- When a Builder or cascading style sheet (CSS) is updated, an end user no longer needs to republish data
- Administrators can turn on read-only mode in Pinpoint
- Users can delete publications that are synchronized into Pinpoint standalone from the server
- Loaded CFM56 CMM, TSP, SB PDF, NDTM, LLP into Pinpoint by Data Manager using the Encapsulated PDF Builder
- Loaded CFM56 ESM, EIPC, SPM, CPM, SB, ITEM into Pinpoint by Data Manager using iSpec Builder
- Modified the display style sheet for CFM56 Illustrated Tooling and Equipment Manual (ITEM) to closely align with LEAP engine style sheet
- Display of CFM56 service bulletins (SB) in the Table of Contents (TOC), showing SB number, title, and the SB documents displaying required data
- Display of CFM56 Consumable Products Manual (CPM) in the TOC, showing CP number, title, and the CP documents displaying required data
- Modified the CFM56 Engine Illustrated Parts Catalog (EIPC) display style sheet to match with Pinpoint ATA display standard
- Modified CFM56 ESM, SPM with the TOC showing CH-SE-SU-PGBLK-TASK and TASK document showing procedure numbering scheme 1.A.(1)(a)
